- We send out roughly monthly emails with information about upcoming events, links to volunteer sign ups, details about meetings, and any important PTA news. Although all necessary PTA information is always provided on the website and through the school's weekly Turtle Tracks email, these emails bridge the gap between that info and what we discuss at meetings. If you aren't able to attend meetings but want more than the barebones we can fit into Turtle Tracks, consider signing up for our email list.
- Advocacy:
The Department of Education froze almost $7 Billion in funding that was allocated to afterschool enrichment, support for English language learners, rural technology needs, and efforts to recruit and retain high-quality teachers.
Over the summer, the National PTA along with 193 state and local PTAs signed onto a letter (link here) requesting the Department of Education release the education funding frozen in early July. This many-week endeavor was successful and the nearly $7 Billion in already-allocated funds were released. We often reference voting on Turtle Lake PTA matters as a benefit of membership, but all of our membership dues go to the Minnesota PTA and the National PTA to support advocacy efforts just like this. Consider becoming a member: $7.25 Membership. Turtle Lake PTA does not retain any money from memberships.
- Have ideas for future PTA activities or events? Please email us at TurtleLakePTA@gmail.com. We are always looking for more ways to enrich and enhance the Turtle Lake experience.

Get Involved at Turtle Lake
There are many ways to be involved at Turtle Lake. Through volunteering, attending meetings, making donations, or becoming a PTA member you can make a difference in your child's grade school experience.
Turtle Lake is fortunate to have an active PTA that provides enrichment to all students and staff. While our fundraising has increased in recent years, we have many volunteer roles left unfilled resulting in a small amount of parents giving a lot of their time. Please consider becoming involved, even the smallest time commitment can help!
Volunteer
There are numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. From a shift or two at a book fair to helping plan the Carnival, there is a volunteer job for everyone. Fill out our Volunteer Form for non-event based needs or see the active sign ups below.
All volunteers at Turtle Lake need to have a current background check on file with the school. See below for those forms.

Become a Member
Become a member of the PTA and help determine how to best spend the money raised throughout the school year and enrich the lives of our students, families, and staff. Membership is $7.25 and includes access to resources from both the Minnesota and National PTA to help our children reach their highest potential. Turtle Lake PTA does not keep any money from membership dues, it passes through to the MNPTA and National PTA completely.
Donate
We have a few fundraisers throughout the year and direct donations are always welcome. Money raised goes back to the school in the form of classroom enrichment, events, socials, special projects, and necessary equipment for teachers. In spring of 2024, the PTA approved the funding for rollerblades and associated safety equipment for all grade use in gym class. Calls for donations are also made for the 5th Grade Celebration and prizes for the Read-a-Thon top readers and earners.
Attend a Meeting
There are several meetings throughout the year. Meetings have updates from the district, administration, grade levels, and specialists; fundraising and budget updates; and voting on funding requests or other matters. Membership is not required to attend and participate in discussions, but only members can vote. All meeting dates and times for the current school year are listed in the calendar.
For notes from prior meetings, please check out the Our PTA page.

mobile APP
Parents love the added convenience of accessing the directory from the Membership Toolkit App. The app includes your directory and calendar —and links to your site through their internet browser.
The app is available free in the Apple Store and in Google Play. Download it one time for all of the organizations that you are affiliated with that are using Membership Toolkit. If you belong to 4 organizations that are using Membership Toolkit, when you log in to the app you will see all four organizations presented and you can toggle between organizations.
